Make-up Try-outs - Sat. Feb 1st

Format:

You should be on in the big ring at 1:30pm.  You will have 10 min to warm up on the flat before we start the flat class.  After the flat class is finished, we will do an over fences warm up in the big ring and then will run show jumping in the order above.  We will adjust the height of the fences as needed between rounds.  If you are not on the list and wish to try-out tomorrow, just send an email.  In case we do not receive your email in time to reply, still come for 1:00pm and we will assign you a horse.

Let's give it a whirl!

Hello Raynham Riders,

It looks like we are still stuck in this "arctic vortex" (fancy speak for really cold!) but right now there's no wind, the sun is shining and since it's a dry cold, it doesn't feel too bad out there!   So we are planning to run lessons tonight and to help keep everyone warm, we will bring in the outdoor horses so no one has to trek out the back.  Since it is calling for it to drop to -12c around 6 or 7pm, if you would prefer to reschedule, that's fine, just send me an email so we know who to expect.

Layer up, grab some of those awesome hot packs and we'll see you tonight!

Extreme Cold Weather Cancellation - Sunday, Jan 26th

Good Morning Raynham Riders!  As much as I hate to cancel classes again, it is -20c, feels like -29c with the wind chill out this morning. It's not supposed to warm up to -12c (that's using the term "warm" loosely!) until 4pm today so it's going to be very chilly again today.  I have been trying to hold off scheduling make-ups until the cold weather breaks so I will send out an email blast regarding rescheduling once the weather improves.  I'm fine scheduling make-up into the next session as well so there's no rush!

Will it ever end????

Wow, unbelievably it is still -20c out, before the wind chill.  So that means unfortunately, we will not be running classes again this evening.  Thankfully they are calling for temperatures to warm up a bit this weekend. I was hoping that we could do some make-ups tomorrow (Friday) as earlier in the week it was supposed to be warmer, but right now they are calling for -13c as the high tomorrow.  For those of you with private lesson make-ups, if your schedule is flexible tomorrow we could schedule you in if the weather isn't too bad.

Extreme Cold Weather Cancellation - Wednesday, Jan 22nd

You guessed it, lessons are cancelled again this evening.  I didn't think it could get any colder but it was -24c without the wind chill this morning, brrrr!!  All the horses are extra bundled up and so they are all doing fine, it's just the humans that are popsicles!  We will sort out make-ups after this cold snap - no point in booking you in incase we have to cancel again because it hasn't warmed up.

Okay, so it is ridiculously cold again today!  Unfortunately we have decided it is necissary to cancel classes again this afternoon and evening.  I will send out an email blast regarding rescheduling or credit as this is the second Tuesday we have had to cancel this session.

Lessons Cancelled Tonight - Monday, Jan 20th

Hello Raynham Riders,

Apparently this is the coldest winter in 20 years and I believe them!   It is supposed to be a chilly -16c, feels like -24c with the wind chill this evening so unfortunately we have decided to cancel classes as per our winter weather policy.    We are bundling up the horses with extra blankets and moving some of the outdoor horses indoors as the cold spell is supposed to last for a few days.   Since I won't be teaching today, I hope to FINALLY finish entering all the classes into the online scheduler so that riders can book a make-up quickly and easily at your convenience.  You have the rest of this session and next session to schedule the make-up for this evening, so feel free to wait for warmer weather!  I will post the details for scheduling online on the blog as soon as I am finished so check back here.

Classes ARE Running This Evening

Hello Raynham Riders!

We are running classes this evening, as the temperature is not supposed to drop below -12c until after 10pm.  It will be chilly though, so we will have horses in for riders.  Please remember to dress in layers, have a hat on until you put your helmet on and you can even wear snow pants or sweatpants over your breeches.  If you do not have winter riding boots, as long as your regular winter boots have a heel and not too much tread, you can wear them to ride.  Hot packs (for skiing) are great to keep fingers and toes toasty warm!   Once you are riding, you will get warm quickly so just make sure you have on enough layers for tacking up and then you can shed layers as you ride.

Extreme Cold Weather Cancellation

Wow, winter is kicking our butt this year!   It is -25c, feels like -37c right now, which is ridiculously cold.  We are going to cancel classes all day today.  For the evening classes, we have an empty ring on Thursdays so we can run you classes at the same time on Thursday evening instead. If this is an issue, please let me know. For the morning classes, I am very nearly done entering all the classes into the online scheduler and will post instructions on how to use it to book a make-up later today.

Jan/Feb Lesson Schedule

Hey Raynham Riders!

Thank you for sending in your registration forms so quickly.  If there is any issues with the proposed schedule below, please send me an email ASAP.

We are going to be using a new scheduling software, that I hope everyone everyone finds quick and easy.  If you need to cancel a class, you can easily do so online and then immediately rebook.   I am entering all the classes now and I will post the details here on the blog.  Also, if you are interested in an extra class, you can book additional single classes through the scheduler.

Winter Schooling Show Start Times

Hello everyone!  Tomorrow is supposed to be much warmer, thankfully, but please still dress warmly for the weather (we do not expect show clothes tomorrow, definitely go for function over form!).  Riders should mount in the small arena 10 - 15 min before their start time to warm up.    We are excited for the new format, hopefully everyone enjoys it!  

If there is anyone available to volunteer to be the secretary, ring crew, etc. we would appreciate the help!  Just email Nikki, info@raynhamstables.com and let us know when you are available.
